Job summary

Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) designs, develops, and manufactures advanced composite components for aviation. We seek an aircraft painter prep technician to mask, prep, mix paints, and apply coatings to parts in a DoD contractor setting.

You will use power tools, paint guns, and related equipment, ensuring finishes meet specifications while maintaining a clean, organized work area. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, shop math ability, blueprint reading, and strong manual

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Must be able to perform shop math and calc resin ratios.
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow written instructions.
  • Manual dexterity and steady hand for precision painting tasks.
  • U.S. person required for DoD contract; no Visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Paints aircraft interior, exterior and piece parts following instructions.
  • Prepares for painting by masking, stripping, washing sections and components.
  • Mixes paints, inks, and coatings to proper spraying consistency and applies with spray equipment.
  • Sets up and coordinates processes for painting production parts; maintains clean, orderly work area.

Job description

Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) designs, develops, and manufactures advanced composite components in order to help our customers push the frontiers of innovation. Our core strength is our ability to produce highly tailored, complex composite components. With our unique blend of products – including 3D woven structures, traditional and non-traditional 2D composite structures, and discrete through thickness reinforcement technologies, to name a few – AEC is able to produce composite components and products which meet performance and cost specifications often beyond the reach of metallic or conventional laminated composites.

Paints aircraft interior, exterior and piece parts. Prepares for painting by masking, stripping, washing aircraft sections and components. Blends and mixes paints, inks, and coatings to proper spraying consistency. Performs detail and touch-ups. Sets-up and coordinates processes for painting production parts.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Little or no knowledge of the job. Moderate understanding of general job aspects and some understanding of the detailed aspects of the job.
  • Close supervision involving detailed instructions and constant checking on work performance.
  • Contacts are primarily within immediate work unit. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information requiring little explanation or interpretation.
  • Prepares and assembles commercial and military aircraft products. Mixes adhesives, paint or resin systems, applies them to piece parts, assembles and secures as required for curing. Repairs surface blemishes, IAW written instructions. Use of power tools, sanders, drills, paint guns, routers, sand blasters and other applicable tools to the manufacturing of paint and assemble aircraft parts. Maintain order and cleanliness in assembly/finishing area
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Requires shop math and the ability to calculate resin rations.
  • Ability to follow directions from supervisor, verbal and written tool orders and engineering orders.
  • Ability to use trimming equipment, cutters, grinders and drills to trim parts within drawing requirements or shop order tolerances.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Manual dexterity is required.
  • As a Department of Defense Contractor we are required to hire US Persons.
