Job summary

Afinitas is seeking a skilled coating inspector/technician to operate air assisted paint guns, handle masking, and manage paint booth operations in a manufacturing setting. The role emphasizes adherence to quality standards and safety protocols while supporting critical coating processes.

The candidate will interpret blueprints, perform maintenance, and supervise junior technicians, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced plant environment.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED is required.
• 6+ years of coating inspection or related experience.
• Certified or ability to certify in forklift and crane operation.
• Knowledge of the use of air assisted paint gun.
• Experience using tape measures, rulers, protractors, and squares.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Ability to work individually as well as in a team environment.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Operate air assisted paint gun while wearing proper PPE.
• Prep and mask items to be painted.
• Operate both overhead and jib style cranes.
• Operate down draft paint booth.
• Perform required preventative maintenance in a timely manner.
• Understand blueprints sketches or specifications.
• Ability to inspect structures or material for the operation of paint booths.
• Develops, interprets, and enforces complex inspection procedures and project specifications
• Manages and oversees all coating operations, including quality management systems and safety/environmental compliance programs
• Performs highly detailed surface preparation and finish work where cosmetic perfection may be critical
• Provides technical guidance, mentorship, and supervision to Level I and Level II technicians
• Works with a high autonomy and is often in a quality QC or inspection role

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Considered an industry expert with extensive verifiable experience (e.g., 6+ years) and a comprehensive understanding of corrosion control and coating inspection principles
• Certified or ability to certify in both forklift and crane operation.
• Knowledge of the use of air assisted paint gun
• Experience using tape measures, rulers, protractors, and combination squares.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Ability to work individually as well as in a team environment.
• Ability to obtain and operate mobile equipment needed to perform essential functions.

Work Environment

• Works in a plant/manufacturing environment that involves the use of industrial machinery and chemicals. Employee must be able to correctly wear and use any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required at the location.
