Job summary

The Kia Forum is seeking a skilled Painter to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all interior and exterior surfaces, including walls, floors, doors, and fixtures. You will perform journeyman level painting, patch work, concrete sealing and related finishing tasks, ensuring a high standard of appearance and safety.

This role requires 1-3 years in a public assembly facility, a collaborative mindset, and a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years’ experience in a public assembly facility.
  • Experience as a facility maintenance painter preferred.
  • Prioritize and complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Adept at maintaining a positive, open, approachable, and professional relationship with a diverse group.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to communicate effectively.
  • Skilled at working collaboratively and in a team environment.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Perform journeyman level work throughout the facility.
  • Patch walls, roof repair, fine finishing work, concrete sealing, sign making, interior and exterior painting of all surfaces.
  • Perform new construction and tenant improvements, drywall taping, molding, and finishing work.
  • Furniture staining and finishing.
  • Maintain a self-sufficient maintenance program of painting equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain proper care of uniform, equipment, and supplies.
  • Operate safely with knowledge of tools and techniques.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, tenants, clients, management and the public.
  • Provide support for event requirements as needed.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Overview

The Painter position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of the surfaces of the venue, both internal and external, with constant care and utilizing all the trade skills of the position. The surfaces of the venue include ALL walls, floors, doors, frames, panels, fencing, rails, steps, and any other equipment deemed necessary for painting maintenance. In conjunction with the VP Arena Operations, the Painter will establish a high level of facility appearance, functionality and operational standards that will firmly maintain the reputation and status of the Kia Forum as a premier entertainment facility.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform journeyman level work throughout the facility.
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, patching walls, roof repair, fine finishing work, concrete sealing, sign making, both interior and exterior painting of all surfaces in the facility.
  • Perform new construction and tenant improvement, drywall taping, molding, and finishing work.
  • Furniture staining and finishing.
  • Maintain a self-sufficient maintenance program of all painting equipment and supplies throughout the facility.
  • Maintain proper care of uniform, equipment, and supplies.
  • Consistently operate within safe work practices and exhibit knowledge of the practices, procedures, tools, equipment, and techniques used in the trade.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, tenants, clients, management, and the public.
  • Familiarity with event schedule and provide support for event requirements as needed.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Special Requirements of the Job

Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel constantly; reach with hands and arms frequently; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl intermittently. Must be able to detect and respond to audible alarms, radio communications, and verbal instructions in a busy facility environment. Specific vision abilities required for this job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Compensation

The targeted range is $25 - $30 per hour. The compensation package offered will be based on multiple individualized factors, including a candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
