Job summary

The Village at Gainesville is seeking a Painter to maintain and improve common areas and resident rooms within our Gainesville, Florida community. You will perform painting, wallpapering, and minor repairs, reporting to the Facilities Manager and Transitions Supervisor.

Ideal candidates have 2-3 years of commercial painting experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and general building maintenance knowledge.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years commercial painting and wallpapering experience.
  • General building maintenance knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Paint and repair walls, doors, woodwork and ceilings.
  • Repair and replace wallpaper.
  • Maintain and categorize records and work requests.
  • Respond to work orders in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Apply paint with brush, roller, sponge or sprayer.
  • Remove paint with removers, scrapers and/or wire brush.
  • Assist in calling vendors for estimates as directed.
  • Assist in ordering supplies and equipment as directed.
  • Greet residents and announce presence prior to entering rooms.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Position Title:Painter

Overview:Responsible for performing painting, wallpaper and minor repairs in all areas of the community. Reports to the Facilities Manager and Transitions Supervisor.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Paint and repair walls, doors, woodwork and ceilings.
  • Repair and replace wallpaper.
  • Maintain and categorize records and work requests.
  • Respond to work orders in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Apply paint with cloth, brush, sponge, roller or sprayer.
  • Remove paint with paint removers, scrapers and/or wire brush.
  • Assist in calling vendors or outside services for estimates as directed.
  • Assist in ordering supplies and equipment as directed.
  • Remove fixtures, such as pictures and electric switch covers, from walls prior to painting using the appropriate tools.
  • Responsible for keeping work and storage areas neat, organized, and in compliance with state, federal, and local codes.
  • Responsible for diligently protecting room furnishings and woodwork by using drop cloths and covering surfaces with appropriate equipment such as masking tape.
  • Select premixed paints or mixes required portions of pigment, oil and thinning & drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.
  • Fill nail holes, cracks and joints with caulk, putty, plaster or other filler using caulking gun and putty knife.
  • All staff MUST greet resident(s) and announce their presence prior to entering room.
  • Perform other duties as required.
