Job summary

Valiant Integrated Services is seeking a Painter to join our team in Fayetteville, NC. The role involves preparing surfaces, selecting and mixing paints, and applying finishes using brushes, rollers or spray equipment.

Qualifications

• Fifth year college or university program certificate or two to four years related experience and/or training
• Or equivalent combination of education.

Responsibilities

• Reads work order or receives instructions from supervisor or homeowner regarding painting.
• Smooths surfaces and removes old paint from surfaces to prepare surfaces for painting.
• Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, and other filler.
• Selects premixed paints, or mixes required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.
• Removes, fixtures such as pictures and electric switch covers from walls prior to painting.
• Spreads drop cloths over floors and room furnishing, and covers surfaces such as baseboards, door frames, and windows with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
• Paints surfaces with brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers.
• Simulates wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects.
• Applies paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects.
• Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks about ground level.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple cor espondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to work in a sitting position for 8 or more hours per day.
• Must be able to lift to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds as needed.
• Must be able to travel to job locations by automobile and/or commercial airline as required.
