Job Description:

TITLE: Painter

DIVISION: Facilities Management

DEPARTMENT: Facilities Management BASIC FUNCTION: Provide generalmaintenance and repair of all campus buildings and facilities.Complete painting assignments to ensure proper painting techniquesare used; assists in supervising 5-6 summer assistants, ensures theproper maintenance of painting vehicles.

UNUSUAL WORK CONDITIONS: Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.Must be available to work during inclement weather, as well asduring peak periods of required overtime, and emergency call-ins.Capable of working alone and must be able to lift a minimum of50lbs with no weight restrictions. Able to work on roofs and climbladders. Able to work at various heights and in all types ofweather conditions.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL NEEDED:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma

EXPERIENCE: 2 years' experience in painting. Possession of a validCT motor vehicle license in good standing.

REPORTS TO: Director, Facilities Management

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. 1. To complete all painting assignments. This involves:
    • mixing paint per the requirements of the specific jobdecor.
    • performing the painting in a timely and quality relatedfashion.
    • perform drywall patching and prepping before painting.
    • interacting with supervisor on the requirements of requestedservices and special needs.
  2. 2. Perform and complete electronic (SchoolDude) and/or verbal workrequests from supervisors, and other departments as needed.
    • recommend supplies and materials needed.
    • assist Campus Planning and design with painting upgrades inclassrooms and offices
    • inspect all dorm rooms as needed during RIFs at the end ofschool year, complete student damage repairs and charges.
  3. 3. To participate in the professional development of the FacilitiesDepartment. This involves:
    • promoting an image of efficiency and courtesy throughout theUniversity.
    • participating in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
    • communicating effectively with supervisor concerning pertinentuniversity, departmental and other matters.
  4. 4. Promote safe and secure working conditions. This involves:
    • maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
    • wearing safety shoes, uniforms and any PPE provided at alltimes as appropriate.
    • ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment andsupplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety andenvironmental practices.
    • ensure proper maintenance of vehicles, tools and other relatedequipment.
    • promoting the proper utilization of equipment and tools,notifying supervisor immediately of any unsafe workingconditions.
    • answer requests in a professional manner
  5. 5. To perform other related duties.
