Job summary

Elon University is looking for a full-time Painter for its campus. The role involves applying various coatings and performing routine maintenance on both indoor and outdoor surfaces. Candidates should have a high school diploma and ideally 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Applying interior and exterior paints, stains, sealants, and specialty coatings using brushes, rollers, and sprayers.
  • Cleaning, sanding, patching, caulking, and priming surfaces including drywall, plaster, wood and metal.
  • Performing trim work, blending, color matching, and detailed finishing to meet campus standards.
  • Completing minor drywall, plaster and wood repairs prior to painting.
  • Cleaning, maintaining and properly storing tools, equipment and materials.
  • Following OSHA, EPA and university safety protocols, including PPE use.
  • Completing work orders, tracking materials and communicating project status to supervisors.

Position Summary

This position works under the direction of the Assistant Director of Building Trades and the Lead Painter and performs the routine preventive maintenance of all university-maintained indoor and outdoor protected coated surfaces.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Following OSHA, EPA and university safety protocols, including PPE use, chemical handling, ventilation practices, and safe equipment operation.
