Job summary

FIBA Technologies, Inc. is seeking a painting technician to prepare surfaces and apply primers and paints to metal pressure vessels and related parts. The role involves masking, sanding, mixing paints, and operating spray equipment to achieve specified finishes.

Candidates must wear SCBA and full PPE, lift 50+ lbs, and hold a HS diploma or GED. Certifications in Hazmat, crane, and forklift are required. This is a hands-on role with routine paperwork and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• Ability to mix primers and finishes according to diagrams.

• Willingness to perform hand painting on certain areas.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and prepares surfaces prior to painting.
• Masking areas as needed for two-tone jobs or protection.
• Smooth surfaces with sanding tools when required.
• Mix primers/paints to job specifications.

• Apply finish coats by spray or brush/roller.
• Document paint usage and inventory as required.
• Perform routine maintenance on paint booth and lighting.

Job description

Summary

Painters prepare surfaces and apply primers and paints to metal pressure vessels, tubes, ISO frames and chassis as well as miscellaneous materials and parts to complete the assembly or reconditioning process.

Job Duties

• Cleans and prepares surface to be painted
• May apply masking tape over parts or areas that are not to be painted, or for special two-tone paint jobs
• May smooth surface areas with sand paper or sander
• Selects and mixes primers and finish paint colors per job specification and diagrams
• Pours primers and paints into spray container and connects gun to air hose
• Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray
• Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat
• Coats some area by hand with brushes and rollers
• Cleans spraying equipment with brushes and solvent
• May complete paint thickness measurements using Elcometer in millimeters and recording average thickness to meet customer specification
• Complete required paperwork for paint usage, inspection report and inventory orders.
• Perform routine maintenance to paint booth, scrap walls, and paint, clean lights, change filters

Job Requirements

• Overhead crane certification, fork lift certification and Hazmat
• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs
