Job description

Job Title: Painter (Campus Maintenance)

The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.

Description: Maintains and repairs painted surfaces and wall coverings. Performs skilled painting work and installs wall coverings on various surfaces. Reads, understands, and interprets blueprints, drawings, floor plans, schedules, and manufacturer's specifications related to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and building structures. May assist other maintenance personnel, including carpenters, masons, technicians, HVAC mechanics, electricians, and plumbers. Responds to maintenance requests from building occupants.

Pay Range: $17.00 - $24.05 (based on experience and qualifications).

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED and three (3) years of related experience required.

Must meet driving record standards to operate university vehicles, including possessing a valid U.S. driver's license, being at least 21 years old, having at least three years of driving experience, and maintaining an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Essential Accountabilities:

• Performs repairs, modifications, replacements, and installations of sheet metal items, including HVAC ducts, exhaust hoods, grilles, diffusers, housings, cabinets, gutters, and similar items.
• Fabricates sheet metal components based on design drawings and job site analysis.
• Maintains and operates hand tools and sheet metal fabricating equipment such as press brakes, shears, rollers, slitters, welding equipment, etc.
• Develops sheet metal layouts according to drawings and sketches.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of painting principles, methods, and materials, with hand tools.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and ability to maintain good working relationships.
• Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements:

• Lifting and carrying at least 50 pounds.
• Climbing stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and working at heights above 30 feet.
• Bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances.
• Working in confined spaces and extreme temperatures.

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, with flexibility as needed.
