Job summary

Mission Critical Group is seeking a Painter to prepare and paint sheet metal enclosures using HVLP spray guns in a fast-paced production environment in Abilene, TX. You will caulk, sand, tape, and move structures using heavy machinery, ensuring high-quality finishes prior to shipment.

The role requires 1–2 years painting experience (3–5 preferred), experience in metal fabrication, and a strong eye for detail. Indoor/outdoor work and safe operation in a heavy manufacturing setting are essential.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years painting experience (required); 3–5 years is preferred.
  • Experience painting in a production/metal fabrication facility highly desired.
  • Experience using HVLP spray guns.

Responsibilities

  • Paint assembled units using HVLP spray gun.
  • File, grind, sand, and smooth surfaces with power/hand tools.
  • Spray primers and finish coatings to prepared surfaces.
  • Monitor painting operations for flaws and correct causes.
  • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers or power equipment.
  • Manage time, tasks, and workflows independently with little supervision.

Job Description

The Painter role is responsible for preparing and painting assembled sheet metal enclosures using an HVLP spray gun. Preparation activities include caulking, sanding, and taping units, as well as moving structures from different areas using heavy machinery. This is a key position and will ensure that the finished product is of high quality and free of any blemishes prior to shipment to our customers. Your technical skills, keen eye for detail and commitment to excellence will play a crucial role in our client's satisfaction and success.

Accountabilities
  • Paint assembled units using HVLP spray gun.
  • File, grind, sand, and smooth assembled or welded surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.
  • Spray prepared surfaces with specified amounts of primers and finish coatings.
  • Monitor painting operations to identify flaws, such as blisters or streaks, and correct their causes.
  • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers or power equipment, using solvents, wire brushes, and cloths.
  • Manage time, tasks, and workflows independently with little supervision.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (required)
  • 1–2 years’ relevant painting experience (required); 3–5 years is preferred.
  • Experience painting in a production/metal fabrication facility highly desired.
  • Experience using HVLP spray guns.
  • Proven attention to detail, the small things matter.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in a heavy manufacturing environment requiring the employee to stoop, kneel, or crouch throughout an 8‑to‑10‑hour day.
  • The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
  • Ability to carry product, equipment, and tools up to 50 pounds and push or pull product up to 100 pounds.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized environment, promoting a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
