Job summary

Lumbermen’s is seeking a paint/stain technician at our Byron Center, MI location to finish exterior doors in a state-of-the-art system. You will ensure quality, read orders, and stage materials for internal customers while working with finish teams to deliver the best finished product.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and prior painting/staining experience, with a focus on safety and doing things right the first time.

Responsibilities

  • Paint and stain exterior doors and components.
  • Maintain quality, accuracy, and timely completion.

POSITION SUMMARY

Located at our Byron Center, MI location, the person in this position would be responsible for the painting/staining of exterior doors in our state-of-the-art finishing system. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the proper quality, accuracy, and timeliness of painting of all doors and component parts
  • Working with all teams of finish department to ensure the highest quality finished product
  • Assisting in cleaning and maintenance of assigned work area
  • Performing other tasks as assigned by the Finish Supervisor

This position offers a $300 annual clothing allowance to offset costs for work apparel, protective footwear, and PPE.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma/GED required
  • Prior painting/staining experience (preferably in doors or comparable field)
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Safe working practices
  • Natural detail-orientation
  • Ability to accurately read orders and stage material to internal customer needs
  • Desire to “do things right the first time”
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lb
  • Ability to stand for 8-10 hours/day
