Job summary

Guardian West is seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor in the Paint Department to lead operations on the 2nd shift, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely production. You will post daily work assignments and provide hands-on support to the team, driving product quality and process improvements.

The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, use of PPE, and collaboration with Maintenance, Engineering, Finance, Planning and Quality to meet schedules.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must communicate effectively in English.
  • Forklift and overhead crane certification required (or ability to obtain).
  • Must complete quality standard training for products.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise paint department operations to meet safety, quality, and delivery goals.
  • Schedule and assign personnel based on production needs.
  • Train and develop direct reports; monitor KPIs and production schedules.
  • Ensure proper PPE use and enforce safety regulations.

Starting Pay Rate: $65,000-$80,000Schedule: 2nd Shift: Monday-Friday 3pm-11pm, with mandatory overtime as neededReports To: Paint ManagerJob SummaryThe Manufacturing Supervisor in the Paint Department is responsible for supervising operations to ensure production is operating in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. Responsible for productions schedules and posting of daily work assignments based upon production needs and individual strengths. Must be shop floor orientated and provide “hands‑on” product/process support for all reports on a daily basis. This individual will be the driver behind product/process safety, quality, delivery and morale. Accountable for continuous improvement of assigned department as well as training and development of direct reports. This role works in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, noise, and industrial conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including safety toe boots, hearing protection, safety glasses, Kevlar cut protection clothing, and work apron.
  • Communicates, trains, guides and coaches employees to achieve operational initiatives that optimize team efforts in the manufacturing of high quality products.
  • Evaluates interpersonal skills, provides feedback and recommends as well as methods to improve interpersonal communications.
  • Schedules and assigns personnel to work according to the demand of the manufacturing schedules.
  • Continually assesses the limitations of equipment capacity and materials supply to directly make adjustments to personal for optimization of manufacturing output.
  • Assesses each employee’s abilities and skills to match with capabilities required for each area of the manufacturing floor.
  • Continuously monitors and tracks output, manufacturing processes, labor efficiencies, direct operating expenses and quality indicators for assigned cost centers.
  • Measures performance and quality.
  • Drives positive results in operational Key Process Indicators.
  • Establishes and builds working relationships with other departmental personnel, such as Maintenance, Engineering, Finance, Planning and Quality to meet production schedules.
  • Meets regularly on a formal basis with Management Team to review production results and improvement priorities.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned.

  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulationsEstablishes or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and the use of equipment to increase efficiency of department.

Physical Demands

Physical Demands Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, bend, twist, push, pull, and lift above head and below shoulder level.Must be able to carry bumpers weighing up to 50 pounds for distances of 15–25 feet.Frequent bending at the waist (45–120 degrees) and reaching forward during stacking operations.The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
