  • Support automatic/robotic paint line operations and tune for finish quality.
  • Inspect parts for defects, maintain coating thickness and adhesion.
  • Maintain spray equipment, PPE compliance and safe material handling.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Paint Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide advanced technical expertise in manual spray painting techniques and support operation of the company’s automatic paint line. This is a hands‑on role focused on delivering consistent, high‑quality finishes on composite parts while assisting with robotic system operation, troubleshooting, and process optimization. The ideal candidate has expert‑level knowledge of industrial spray painting processes and a strong eye for quality. Automotive painting experience is a plus due to the finish quality and attention to detail required.

Key Responsibilities
Manual Spray Painting Operations
  • Apply primers, basecoats, and topcoats using professional spray gun systems (HVLP, air‑assisted airless, or airless).
  • Prepare, mask, and coat parts to meet finish specifications.
  • Perform high‑precision painting needs, including touch‑ups and blending.
  • Maintain consistency in coating thickness, adhesion, and visual quality.
Automatic / Robotic Paint Line Support
  • Operate and monitor robotic painting equipment.
  • Assist with adjustments and optimization to ensure robotic output meets finish quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot issues in partnership with engineering and maintenance teams.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Inspect painted parts for defects, uniformity, and compliance with specifications.
  • Record quality checks, paint usage, and rework activity.
  • Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to resolve coating issues.
Maintenance & Safety
  • Clean and maintain spray guns, booths, and paint line equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with PPE requirements and environmental/safety standards.
  • Support safe material handling and ventilation practices.
  • Recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and consistency.
  • Provide input into standard operating procedures and process improvements.
Qualifications
Key Skills
  • Knowledge of surface preparation, masking, and finishing standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot paint issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with robotic or automatic paint line operations preferred.
  • Automotive or other high‑finish painting experience is a strong plus.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical training or certification in industrial painting or coatings preferred.
  • 3–5 years of hands‑on spray painting experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Robotic painting experience helpful but not required.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Frequent standing, bending, and manual handling of spray equipment and parts.
  • Exposure to coatings, solvents, dust, and fumes; use of PPE (e.g., respirator, gloves, coveralls) is required.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Moderate to high noise levels; hearing protection may be required.
