Job summary

Engineered Steel is seeking a Laborer to join our Sophia, NC paint shop team. The role focuses on preparing surfaces, assisting painters, and ensuring a clean, safe work area with quality finishes.

You will mix paints, manage materials, operate basic tools, and report maintenance needs. Candidates should have a high school diploma and the ability to follow instructions under supervision; prior paint shop experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
• Basic knowledge of painting materials and tools.
• Previous experience in a paint shop preferred.
• Basic understanding of color mixing and paint application techniques.
• Ability to operate basic hand and power tools safely.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and masking areas as directed.
• Mix and match paint colors according to specifications and ensure proper storage of materials.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the paint shop, including cleaning brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
• Support painters by handing tools and materials as needed to facilitate efficient work.
• Inspect equipment regularly and report maintenance or repair needs to supervisors.
• Dispose of paint waste and hazardous materials in compliance with environmental regulations.
