  • Oversee paint application, coatings, and finishes per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot powder coating guns, booths, and related equipment.
  • Review and approve employee time cards to ensure payroll accuracy.
  • Enforce OSHA safety protocols and ensure proper PPE is used.

Job description

Position Summary

The Paint Shop Leadman in a manufacturing setting oversees painting operations, ensuring high-quality finishes, adherence to production schedules, and compliance with safety standards. This role involves supervising a team of painters and technicians, managing materials, and maintaining equipment to support efficient workflow.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • - Supervise and Coordinate: Oversee daily painting operations, ensuring production goals and quality standards are met.
  • - Assign Tasks & Lead Team: Distribute work assignments, train employees, and monitor performance to ensure efficiency.
  • - Quality Control: Inspect surfaces before and after painting, ensuring proper application and adherence to specifications.
  • - Surface Preparation: Ensure materials are properly prepped, including grinding, sanding, priming, and masking, for optimal paint adhesion.
  • - Paint Application: Oversee the correct preparation and application of paints, coatings, and finishes according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • - Equipment Maintenance: Maintain powder coating guns, booths, all equipment within the paint shop. Be able to perform maintenance on equipment when needed to ensuring proper function and minimizing downtime. If equipment is down, perform maintenance on the equipment to get production moving again.
  • - Review and approve employee time cards daily to ensure accuracy and timely payroll processing.
  • - Address attendance, performance, and conduct issues by issuing disciplinary actions and write-ups in accordance with Lawrence Brothers, Inc. policies and procedures.
  • - Review and submit employee time-off request forms in accordance with company policy.
  • - Maintain accurate employee training records and ensure all required training is completed and documented.
  • - Conduct routine shop safety meetings and reinforce company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
  • - Assist Human Resources with employee evaluations and performance reviews for employees under your direct supervision.
  • - Communicate company policies, expectations, and procedural changes to employees.
  • - Monitor employee performance, attendance, and productivity, providing coaching and corrective action when necessary.
  • - Foster a safe, professional, and productive work environment while promoting teamwork and accountability.
  • - Perform other supervisory duties as assigned by management.
  • - Safety Compliance: Enforce OSHA and company safety protocols, ensuring the Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used, and handling of hazardous materials.
  • - Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance finish quality.
