Qualifications

  • Previous manufacturing, paint, coating, finishing, or production experience preferred.
  • Experience reading work instructions, job travelers, or production specifications is beneficial.
  • Experience working with paint-line, coating, finishing, or similar production equipment is beneficial.

  • Prepare parts for the paint process, including cleaning, masking, plugging, hanging, staging, or other required preparation activities.
  • Read and follow work instructions, job travelers, part identification, production schedules, and coating requirements.
  • Operate or support assigned paint-line, coating, curing, or related production equipment according to established work instructions and safety procedures.
  • Apply or support the application of paint or coating materials to achieve required coverage, finish, and appearance.
  • Verify parts are correctly identified, positioned, and prepared before entering the paint or coating process.
  • Inspect painted or coated parts for defects such as missed coverage, runs, contamination, damage, or other visible quality concerns.

The Paint Tech is responsible for safely supporting Morton Industries paint and coating processes to ensure finished parts meet established quality, appearance, and production standards. This position prepares parts for coating, operates or supports paint-line equipment, monitors product quality, and maintains a clean and organized work area.

The Paint Tech is responsible for safely supporting Morton Industries paint and coating processes to ensure finished parts meet established quality, appearance, and production standards. This position prepares parts for coating, operates or supports paint-line equipment, monitors product quality, and maintains a clean and organized work area. The Paint Tech follows work instructions and production requirements, identifies quality or equipment concerns, handles materials appropriately, and works as part of the production team to safely deliver quality products on time.

Essential Functions

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prepare parts for the paint process, including cleaning, masking, plugging, hanging, staging, or other required preparation activities.
  • Read and follow work instructions, job travelers, part identification, production schedules, and coating requirements.
  • Operate or support assigned paint-line, coating, curing, or related production equipment according to established work instructions and safety procedures.
  • Apply or support the application of paint or coating materials to achieve required coverage, finish, and appearance.
  • Verify parts are correctly identified, positioned, and prepared before entering the paint or coating process.
  • Inspect painted or coated parts for defects such as missed coverage, runs, contamination, damage, or other visible quality concerns.
  • Monitor process conditions and identify potential equipment, material, quality, or production issues.
  • Make routine process or equipment adjustments within the scope of the position and communicate concerns requiring additional support.
  • Perform basic preventative care and minor equipment maintenance, including cleaning and routine upkeep as required.
  • Properly handle and store paint, coating materials, masking supplies, and related production materials.
  • Load, unload, rack, move, identify, count, stack, package, or stage parts safely throughout the paint process as required.
  • Maintain an organized and safe work area and follow all housekeeping requirements.
  • Accurately complete required production, quality, and operational documentation.
  • Immediately communicate safety, quality, equipment, material, or production concerns to the appropriate leader.
  • Follow all Morton Industries policies, procedures, work instructions, PPE requirements, and environmental and safety requirements.
  • Support production needs by performing other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing this job, the employee regularly works in a manufacturing and paint/coating environment and may be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, fumes or airborne particles, paint and coating materials, chemicals, and elevated noise levels. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn as required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods; use hands and fingers to handle, position, hang, remove, operate, or feel materials and equipment; reach with hands and arms; and communicate and hear in a manufacturing environment. The employee may occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch; regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The position requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Preferred Education & Experience
