Job Description:

Paint Quality Gate Inspectors are responsible for paint quality during the production phase of the paint process, then facilitating corrective action for identified issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Visually Inspect Fire and Emergency vehicle components for compliance to current paint standards.
  • Utilize inspection tools such as Wave Scan to measure orange peel and Profilometer check for roughness after prime sanding.
  • Validate paint color match on product vs paint chip.
  • Inspect dry and wet fill thickness.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with coworkers of all departments.
  • Record and monitor metrics.
  • Plan and execute assignments in accordance with established time constraints.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3 plus years of related work experience.
  • Proficient computer experience.
  • Ability to interpret result of visual inspections.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret output from testing equipment.
  • Ability to work safely, effectively, and independently while handling multiple tasks.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in a related field.
  • Previous visual paint inspection and/or paint quality testing experience.
  • Experience using 3D scanning tools such as Polyworks for dimensional analysis.
  • Experience with quality tools, problem solving, and/or continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of quality concepts and statistics.
  • Sound judgment and analytical skills to enable assessment of risk.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical Demands: Frequent: Standing, Walking, Sitting, Hearing, Talking, Visual. Occasional: Reaching, Climbing, Bending/Kneeling
  • Non-Physical Demands: Frequent: Analysis/Reasoning, Communication/Interpretation, Reading, Task Changes.
