Job summary

CSP (Teijin Automotive Technologies) in Seguin, TX, is seeking an engineer to specify, design, implement, and track improvements of robot path programming and optimization for the paint process, coordinating trials and quality improvements with maintenance and production.

The role requires experience in paint shop operations, PLCs, lean manufacturing, ISO/TS standards, and ability to read blueprints; a Bachelor's degree in engineering and strong PC skills are expected; on-site position with

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or related field required or preferred.
  • Experience in paint shop and production floor environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and TS 16949 standards is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Specify, design, implement, and track improvements of robot path programming and optimization of the paint process.
  • Ensure paint process setup instructions at current revision levels.
  • Coordinate trial runs and quality improvements for the paint process; coordinate with Maintenance and Production.
  • Implement cost-reduction improvements for new and existing equipment/processes.
  • Provide technical support to Production and Engineering operations for improvement programs.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of paint department processes and latest technologies.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing principles and basic PLC knowledge; blueprints and statistical methods.

Job Description

Specify, design, implement, and track the improvement of robot path programming and optimization of manipulator, applicator, and fluid delivery process.

Responsible for ensuring the paint process setup instructions at current revision levels and correct.

Coordination of trial runs and quality improvement for the paint process. Coordinate work with Maintenance and Production.

Implement cost-reduction improvements for both new and existing equipment/processes.

Technical support to all Production and Engineering operations for improvement programs.

Working knowledge of paint department processes and principles, including latest technologies.

General knowledge of production control / scheduling systems.Blueprint reading skills, working knowledge of statistical analysis.

Knowledge of ISO 14001, TS 16949 requirements

Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, basic knowledge of PLC programming.

Strong knowledge of paint application process.Basic knowledge of machining / tooling; and electrical / schematics.

  • Mathematical Skills- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills- Competence in personal computerMust be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, e-mail) and familiar with other database related software.
Experience

At least two years of related experience in paint shop and production floor environment.Allen Bradley PLC, Studio 5000, and paint shop pre – treatment process. ** Fanuc P-250** experienceandModicon PLC experience a plus.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related fieldpreferred

Working Conditions

Will be required to work within the plant – factory environment where there is some exposure to noise, dust, fiberglass, and heat. Must adhere to PPE requirements as defined in the safety manual when in the manufacturing area.
