Job summary

Wastequip in Erial, NJ is hiring a Paint Prep Tech to clean, grind, and sand surfaces before painting. The role operates on a 6:00 AM–4:30 PM shift, Monday through Friday, with Saturdays when needed. The position offers an hourly wage of $20.68.

Primary duties include inspecting surfaces for defects, selecting appropriate abrasives, running grinders, and achieving a smooth, defect-free finish. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work overtime.

Qualifications

• Less than high school education or up to one month of related experience or training is acceptable.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Examines and feels surface of workpiece for defects.
• Selects abrasive wheel or disk and attaches to grinder.
• Starts grinder and moves it over surface to remove scratches, excess weld material, and burrs.
• Polishes ground areas to produce a smooth, unmarred surface.
