Job summary

Vaupell is hiring a Paint Prep Operator in Everett, WA. This full-time role prepares plastic aerospace parts for painting, following Lean and 5S practices. You will inspect parts, ensure cleanliness, and prepare surfaces using sanding tools to meet BB callouts.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, 6 months to 1 year of paint experience, and strong attention to detail with solid MS Office skills. Shift runs Mon–Fri, 6:15am–2:45pm, with safety PPE provided.

Qualifications

  • Prepare parts using tools (sandpaper, electric sander) to achieve BB callout finish.
  • Maintain knowledge of current specifications and call outs.

Position Purpose

Prepare plastic Aerospace parts for painting

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Follow Lean Manufacturing and 5s practices
  • Visually inspect parts prior to painting to identify failures and damage. Report all parts that appear damaged or incorrectly processed to Paint Shop Supervisor
  • Ensure parts to be painted are clear of dirt or foreign material, and clean them if necessary
  • Review work orders for missed processes and fill out/maintain paperwork
  • Prepare parts using tools such as sandpaper, electric sander, etc. to achieve finish look of BB callout
  • Maintain knowledge of current specifications and call outs
  • Touching up and/or masking and unmasking of parts
  • Follow hazardous chemical and waste handling procedures
  • Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) properly. This includes maintaining the area of the face where the respirator seals are clean and hair free
  • Must be able to read and interpret all MSDS sheets on all chemicals being used
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency
  • Maintain safe working practices and ensure area is clean and free of any possible unsafe situations
  • Responsible for following all established Vaupell policies, standard operating procedures and safety practices
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications/Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six months to one-year related paint experience preferred
  • Skill in prioritizing and managing a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to use a computer for basic Microsoft Office functions (includes Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and ability to apply basic mathematical skills to the work environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, team oriented, and ability to deal with a wide variety of personalities and communication styles
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Skill in organizing, identifying, and recognizing differences or similarities
  • Adaptable to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace
