Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Paint Materials Engineer for a contract position based in Georgetown, KY. The role focuses on new material development, color/colorant trials, and supporting production to reduce costs while improving material performance across North American plants.

You will lead color/material introductions, develop robust process controls, and present findings to management. Occasional on-site work and travel up to 30% are required, with safety protocols in place.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in materials engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, materials science, paint application, or paint systems.
• Strong understanding of paint materials, paint systems, and their manufacturing applications.
• Proficiency in summarizing data and creating charts in Excel to support technical and business decisions.
• Ability to build clear and persuasive presentations in PowerPoint for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience leading multiple projects requiring cross-functional coordination.
• Experience evaluating color and appearance of painted surfaces (≥1 year).

Responsibilities

• Lead the introduction of new colors and materials from lab through online testing and production approval.
• Coordinate color/material introductions across North American facilities.
• Establish robust process controls for new materials and drive cross-functional alignment.
• Lead materials-related root-cause analysis and TBP-based countermeasures.
• Assess environmental impacts of new materials and quantify costs/benefits.
• Summarize technical data and create clear charts and visualizations in Excel.
• Deliver PowerPoint presentations to communicate findings and status to management.
• Travel up to 30% and perform on-shop-floor work as needed.
