Job summary

OT Dynamics in Lynchburg, VA is seeking an experienced Lab Technician to support formulation projects, produce and test paint samples, and maintain lab equipment per Quality Management Systems. You will follow directions from the Technical Director, meet deadlines, and work closely with senior staff in a hands-on lab environment.

The role requires strong problem-solving, good written/verbal communication, and the ability to operate lab equipment and software.

Qualifications

• Must pass a drug test.
• Ability to lift 55 lbs.
• High school diploma required; scientific background preferred.
• Experience at a paint company or similar industry preferred.
• Teamwork and good communication and organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Take direction from Technical Director on Lab Request projects.
• Meet deadlines for Lab Request projects.
• Make and test paint samples as required by the Lab.
• Produce liquid paint samples following recipes; typical sizes noted.
• Perform physical property testing (adhesion, abrasion, gloss, etc.).
• Conduct color matching and assist with DOE studies.
• Maintain notebook with formulations and test results.
• Use manufacturing software for formulations and hazard info.
• Calibrate and maintain lab equipment per QMS.
• Maintain 5S in labs and clean work areas.
• Follow EHS best practices and complete required training.
• Dispose of waste properly and work as a team.
• Overtime as necessary and adhere to vacation notice.
