Job summary

Mead Lumber Company is hiring a Retail Sales Associate for the Paint & Hardware Department in Hays, KS. You will help customers select paint, hardware, and home improvement products, mix paints, and process sales while keeping shelves stocked and displays ready.

Responsibilities include assisting with product recommendations, handling transactions, stocking, and maintaining knowledge of product options. The role offers employee ownership benefits and a focus on service excellence.

Qualifications

• Construction, hardware, paint, or retail sales experience.
• Reliable, self-motivated, and punctual.

• Basic math skills and ability to accurately handle cash transactions.
• Computer knowledge, including POS system experience.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to stand for 10 or more hours per day.

• Locate hardware items and assist customers in finding the correct products for their projects.
• Perform basic screen repairs, including replacing screen material and spline as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized store appearance.
• Receive, stock, and price merchandise according to company standards.
• Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and returns in a timely and efficient manner.
• Remain knowledgeable on products offered and discuss available options.
• Stay updated on industry trends and product knowledge to effectively assist customers.
• Comply with inventory control procedures.
• Assist customers in person and over the phone by determining needs and presenting appropriate products and services.

Job Summary: As a Retail Sales Associate – Paint & Hardware Department, you will provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with paint, hardware, and home improvement products. You will help customers find the right products, answer questions, offer recommendations, and ensure the department is stocked, organized, and ready to serve customers.

Pay for this role: $14.00 to $ 18.00 an hour depending on experience.
