Job summary

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. seeks a passionate Paint Production Engineer to lead Paint SE activities for new model programs and to act as the liaison between design and manufacturing across NAMC Paint shops.

The role drives safety, quality, productivity, and cost improvements while coordinating with NAMCs and design teams. Responsibilities include leading design-phase reports, prototype development, 3D modeling, and standardizing processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• Experience supporting new model introduction projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
• CAD modeling experience, preferably CATIA or Autodesk.
• Basic Japanese language proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead Paint SE new model projects, create design-phase reports, and develop final handoff documentation for Regional and NAMC Pilot teams.
• Support vehicle structure reviews, evaluate process and equipment designs, develop prototypes, and lead One-Voice activities between NAMCs and Design.
• Utilize 3D technologies including scanning, design, prototype validation, troubleshooting, and as-built drawing package development for new model projects.
• Develop and maintain Paint SE standard check sheets, shikumi, and departmental standardization efforts.
• Benchmark lessons learned and implement improvements to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost.

Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s TMNA Paint Production Engineering Department is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Paint Engineer. The primary responsibility of this role is to lead Paint Simultaneous Engineering (SE) activities for new model programs and serve as the liaison between design and manufacturing teams across Toyota’s North American Paint Manufacturing Shops. Reporting to the Manager, this role supports the Paint Engineering department’s objective of delivering new model processes that meet Paint standards for Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead Paint SE new model projects, create design-phase reports, and develop final handoff documentation for Regional and NAMC Pilot teams.
• Support vehicle structure reviews, evaluate process and equipment designs, develop prototypes, and lead One-Voice activities between NAMCs and Design.
• Utilize 3D technologies, including scanning, design, prototype validation, troubleshooting, and as-built drawing package development for new model projects.
• Support the development and maintenance of Paint SE standard check sheets, shikumi, and departmental standardization efforts.
• Benchmark lessons learned and implement improvements to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
• Create 2D and 3D models using AutoCAD and CATIA, including tolerance stack-up and fit analysis.
• Develop and manage schedules for new model and model change projects.
• Coordinate Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) Production Engineering (PE) and North American Manufacturing Companies (NAMC) resources to complete planning studies.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a related field.
• Experience supporting new model introduction projects.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and shutdown periods as needed.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
• Added bonus if you have TMNA Paint PE Engineer or Paint Seibi project experience.
• Basic Japanese language proficiency.
• Project management experience, including scheduling, budgeting, and documentation.
• Automotive industry experience.
• CAD modeling experience, preferably with CATIA or Autodesk.
