Job description

We seek a driven and dynamic leader to join our team as a full-time Pain Nurse Practitioner for our clinics in Medical Center and Channelview. $10K Sign-On Bonus Available

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Conducts complex and standardized patient care procedures, which require experience and specialized training that would otherwise be performed by a physician, but which do not constitute the practice of medicine.
  • Performs relevant patient assessments and physical examinations and provides appropriate treatment.
  • Coordinates, directs, and implements patient’s plan of care.
  • Performs minor surgical procedures as delegated by the supervising physician.
  • Manages pre‑operative and post‑operative patients in coordination with the faculty supervising physician.
  • Utilizes advanced assessment skills to anticipate complex patient problems specific to surgery while communicating information to supervising/attending physician.
  • Orders, conducts, and interprets pertinent laboratory and diagnostic studies and procedures.
  • Makes medical recommendations and/or referrals.
  • Formulates, implements, and evaluates an outcome‑based treatment plan.
  • Maintains appropriate records detailing the patient’s treatment plans and outcomes. Enters chart documentation for review and counter‑signature by the physician.
  • Facilitates patient education relating to medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion or postsurgical care.
  • Collaborates with patients, families, other clinicians, and referral services to assist in the patient’s recovery.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Responsible and accountable for own professional practice.
  • Knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management in all aspects of patient care and business practices.
  • Demonstrates a service philosophy in all interactions with patients, families, and all members of the health care team.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of computers and telecommunication modalities to document, track and convey information.
  • Ability to adapt and demonstrate flexibility.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Master’s degree in nursing.
  • Registered Nurse with current Texas license.
  • Texas Board of Nursing Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license (APRN).
  • Prescriptive authority privileges through the State of Texas.
  • BLS, ACLS certified.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License.
