Interns work under project managers and teams of engineers, scientists, and technologists. Ideal candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and are eager to learn.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Pursuing bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or related field.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Ability to work both independently and in a project team with strong communication and teamwork.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Willingness to learn and take professional feedback.
• Willing to be a problem solver and handle multiple tasks.
• Strong ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple assignments.
• Has taken Power, Power Systems, and/or Circuit courses.
• Experience with engineering software applications (AutoCAD, MathCad, ESRI, MicroStation, Bluebeam, Aspen, SolidWorks) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support project tasks including regulatory requirements, estimates, research, and procurement support.
• Assist substations engineers in design work and calculations.
• Perform data entry, management, evaluation, and presentation of data.
• Prepare reports, plans and specifications for clients.
• May work on field assignments as needed.
• Collaborate with engineering staff to support Substation Engineering and Protection & Control projects; tasks include drafting, wiring, schematic development, BOM, panel layouts, and project status calls.
• Be supported by leaders and mentors throughout the internship.
• Perform other related duties as necessary.
