Job summary

Univera Healthcare in Buffalo, NY is offering a 10-week paid Summer College Internship Program for undergraduate and graduate students. Interns work on meaningful projects, are mentored by managers, and participate in development workshops across business, IT, actuarial, analytics, and other tracks.

The internship includes hands-on cost analysis of healthcare data, collaboration with medical economics and data teams, and a final presentation of project findings.

Qualifications

• Desired Majors/Degree Programs Include: Actuarial, Statistics, Math, Economics or similar.
• Preferred experience with Excel, coding (SAS, SQL, R, Python).
• High School diploma with continuous college enrollment (full-time undergrad or grad).
• Must be in good academic standing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to interface with staff at all levels.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while delivering high-quality work.
• Ability to work well in a team and develop relationships with peers.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and prioritization skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently and in teams.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate opportunities to reduce healthcare costs and improve value of care through medical claims analysis.
• Work with medical economics, clinical, and data analytics teams to investigate cost-saving initiatives and develop financial impact estimates.
• Support key strategic projects and work with a mentor.
• Complete work assignments based on business needs and departmental priorities.
• Deliver presentations at internship completion.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to company policies.
