Job summary

The Seattle Times offers a 10-week paid summer internship for standout students to train in journalism, working with Pulitzer Prize-winning staff on real-world assignments at the Northwest’s leading daily newspaper and website. Interns will write across arts, travel, food, culture and outdoors, meet deadlines with editors, pitch stories, and gain hands-on reporting and multimedia experience.

Compensation is $21.30 per hour; benefits include EAP, paid holidays, transit subsidy, and a Seattle

Qualifications

• Applicants must be Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors in a four-year college or university.
• Journalism majors or demonstrated commitment to print/online journalism; social media skills; digitally astute.
• Strong reporting, writing and multimedia skills; interest in arts, travel, food, lifestyle and culture.

Responsibilities

• Write interesting, accurate, balanced and well-researched stories on a variety of beats under the Features umbrella, filing a mix of breaking news and in-depth features.
• Meet deadlines and regularly communicate with your editor.
• Conceive and pitch original stories and develop them with editors for publication.
