Job summary

Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company in West Des Moines, IA, is offering a paid Summer Internship for undergraduate students in accounting/finance. The internship runs May 17–August 6, 2027, up to 40 hours per week, with potential for a full-time role in the future.

It is not remote and requires current enrollment as a sophomore, junior, or senior with accounting/finance-related studies. Eligible candidates should have basic accounting knowledge and be proficient with Word and Excel.

Qualifications

• Currently-enrolled sophomore, junior or senior! in an undergraduate college or university; May 2027 graduates are not eligible.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts is required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learns and assists with the quarterly financial reporting process.
• Assists with reconciling outstanding checks and unclaimed property.
• Learns and assists with reinsurance accounting and related reporting.
• Performs various account and cash reconciliations.
• Assists with coding and entering accounts payable transactions.
• Prepares and enters monthly journal entries.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
