Job summary

Mercy invites nursing students to join a paid winter externship that turns classroom learning into bedside practice. You’ll rotate through diverse units and gain hands-on experience alongside Mercy nurses who are invested in your growth.

Externs work about 24 hours per week (two 12-hour shifts), learning from experienced preceptors, building confidence, and developing core clinical skills as you explore potential nursing specialties within Mercy.

Qualifications

• Applicants must have completed at least 2 nursing school semesters, including one clinical rotation, by the start of the externship.
• This paid winter program offers hands-on experience under Mercy nurse preceptors.

Responsibilities

• Rotate through multiple nursing units to gain exposure to diverse patient populations.
• Work closely with experienced Mercy nurses to develop bedside skills.
• Learn from preceptors and participate in real-world patient care activities.
• Commit to ~24 hours per week across two 12-hour shifts.
