Mercy St. Louis Hospital is offering a Winter Nurse Externship designed for nursing students to gain hands-on clinical experience during winter break.

Externs will be paid and work approximately 36 hours per week, rotating through a variety of acute care units to observe and participate under experienced Mercy nurses. Participants will build competence in direct and indirect patient care with one-on-one preceptor support, including exposure to IV therapy, med administration, and patient

Qualifications

• Completed at least two semesters of nursing school by the start of the externship.
• Completed at least one clinical rotation.

Responsibilities

• Work ~36 hours per week alongside Mercy nurses.
• Rotate through acute care units to gain clinical exposure.
• Receive one-on-one preceptor guidance to build skills.
