Job summary

Beacon Health System is offering an 8-month Medical Assistant Intern I internship that combines classroom and patient care duties. Under supervision, you will perform clerical tasks, take patient histories, and assist with basic clinical care and exams.

You will gain hands-on experience in vital signs, EKGs, specimen collection, and EMR data entry while supporting the care team in a physician office setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum age 17 years.
• Spanish language ability preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors professionally and assist as needed.
• Record patient information for payment and EMR input.
• Maintain patient files, charts and records.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare for examinations.
• Assist physician/nurse with minor procedures and basic labs/EKG.
