Job summary

Bascom Hunter is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support design, development, analysis, and testing of aerospace and defense systems. You will gain hands-on experience across thermal management, precision rotating machinery, packaging, and ruggedized electronics.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams across the development lifecycle, from early concepts through prototyping, testing, and documentation, contributing to projects that meet DoD and aerospace standards.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
• Proficiency with CAD and 3D modeling; SolidWorks experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and development of mechanical components and systems.
• Create 3D models and packaging concepts using CAD tools (SolidWorks or equivalent).
• Support thermal, structural, and fluid analyses to optimize performance.
• Contribute to prototype fabrication, testing, and documentation.
• Assist with experiments, data collection, and interpretation of results.
• Evaluate materials and manufacturing processes for performance and weight considerations.
• Help build engineering lab/test capabilities and prepare technical reports.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support integrated system development.
