Job summary

MISO invites applications for the Load and Weather Risk Analyst Intern role in Carmel, IN. This paid internship provides hands-on experience at the intersection of weather science, power systems, and risk management, with exposure to forecasting accuracy and grid reliability.

You will work on load and weather risk forecasting, build models, and modernize forecasting tools using Python and SQL. Housing is available for qualified students and the program runs June 2 to August 13, 2027.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis.
  • Academic level: Undergraduate and Graduate.
  • Degrees in electrical/power/computer engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Developing or enhancing load probability forecasting models.
  • Identifying and building models that assess renewable generation risk using historical and real-time weather and load data.
  • Automating and modernizing legacy forecasting tools and scripts using Python and SQL.
  • Gain hands-on experience interpreting weather models and their impact on renewable generation and load forecasting.
