Job summary

Commerce Bank internship program provides hands-on exposure to lending, financial analysis, and client service across Commercial, Treasury, Trust, Retail and Community Markets. Interns work on real projects, attend weekly lunch-and-learns, and interact with executive leadership.

The summer internship session runs 11 weeks from May 18, 2027 to July 30, 2027, is paid, full-time, Monday–Friday. Location is Cape Girardeau, MO, with compensation at $20.00 per hour based on experience.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of banking/accounting/finance field.
• Basic analytical skills using financial and accounting principles.
• Junior or Senior college students pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; including presentation skills.
• Attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Interested in Sales willing to go on calls with Relationship Managers and product partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to relationship and portfolio managers by preparing loan documentation, on‑boarding new loans, and on‑going monitoring of existing loans.
• Conduct financial analysis on companies of diverse industries and sizes.
• Train on credit analysis and underwriting process, including loan structure, cash flow, collateral, competition and industry.
• Complete rotational program in local lines of business including Commercial, Treasury, Trust, Retail and Community Markets.
• Participate in loan committee meetings regarding loan renewals and new requests.
• Attend networking/personal development events.
