Vertin invites new graduates to join a paid Funeral Director Internship Program designed to deliver real training and support within a family-owned network of 90+ funeral homes. The internship offers meaningful hands-on experience, mentorship from seasoned directors, and a clear development plan to prepare you for licensure and a rewarding career.

Location flexibility across multiple states with a focus on Des Moines-area opportunities and a start date aligned to your mortuary science program

Qualifications

• Degree completed or in progress from Accredited Mortuary Science Program as required in the applicable state.
• Successful completion of the National Board Examination after internship completion.
• Successful completion of the applicable State Board Examination after internship completion.

Responsibilities

• Arrange and conduct funeral and memorial ceremonies in a professional, organized, and caring manner, in keeping with company policies and procedures.
• Care for the deceased with dignity, including removal and transfer, embalming, cosmetology, hairstyling, dressing, and casketing.
• Build strong community relationships through involvement in local organizations and charitable events.
• Help promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
• Follow all professional, state, and federal licensing regulations and rules that apply to funeral service.
