Job summary

FDIC's Financial Institution Internship (FII) is a one-year paid program with a potential post-graduation offer as a Financial Institution Specialist (Risk Management). Interns will work in the Division of Risk Management Supervision on insured financial institution examinations starting May 2027.

Additional selections may be made later from this announcement. Interns will gain hands-on experience reviewing reports, evaluating procedures, conducting audit tests, and assisting in various phases

Qualifications

• Must have completed two full academic years in an accredited college/university degree program.
• Majors include accounting, banking, business administration, banking law, economics, finance, marketing or related fields.
• Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale; GPA rounds per OPM guidance.
• Official transcripts must be submitted at the time of application.

Responsibilities

• Review and determine accuracy of consolidated Reports of Condition and Income.
• Evaluate adequacy of insured institutions' procedures and internal controls.
• Perform audit test checks on income/expense accounts and assist in analysis of earnings.
• Compute capital ratios and review capital account activity since prior examination.
• Review liquidity and analyze fluctuations in loans, securities, deposits, and borrowings.
• Prepare drafts of schedules/exhibits/comments for the examination report.

Accounting or related major

GPA 3.0+ (4.0 scale)
