Job summary

Amber Waves Farm on Long Island’s East End offers an eight‑month paid Apprenticeship in sustainable agriculture. The program combines in‑field training, weekly farm manager meetings, and a practical handbook, guiding you from propagation to harvest and beyond.

Apprentices gain hands‑on experience, with opportunities to tour, attend workshops, and advance into higher roles within the farm leadership track. Housing is available nearby, and compensation is hourly during the season.

• Genuine interest in agricultural production and a future in food/agriculture.
• Desire to learn and improve skill set.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to collaborate with others, including the public.
• Prior agricultural experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in hands‑on fieldwork and seasonal tasks.
• Attend weekly farm manager discussions and group field walks.
• Learn plant propagation, harvesting, post‑harvest handling, and tractor basics.
• Support business planning and marketing discussions as you progress.
