The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco seeks an Economics Research Intern to assist economists and research associates on quantitative analyses using economic and financial data. You will apply critical thinking and data skills in a collaborative setting.

This 10.5-week, paid internship in San Francisco offers orientation, mentorship, and networking, with housing and transportation stipends. Applicants are undergraduate or graduate students with a strong quantitative background and interest

Qualifications

• Critical thinking, data analysis, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in manipulating and presenting data and analyses in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Programming experience in Python, Stata, Matlab or R.
• Superior academic record with a strong quantitative background (econometrics, statistics, advanced calculus, or computer programming).
• Interest in economics or finance; pursuing a Ph.D. is not required but preferred.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Ability to prioritise and balance multiple projects.
• Effective interpersonal and behavioral competencies such as collaboration, innovation, and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with economists and research associates on quantitative research analysis using economic and financial data.
• Work closely with senior researchers on a variety of research questions and real-world policy issues.
