Job summary
Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco is seeking Research Associates to join the Economic Research team. The positions start in Summer 2027 and offer exposure to macroeconomics, microeconomics, international topics, finance, and policy-relevant research.
Successful candidates will apply econometric and programming skills (R/Stata/MATLAB/Python) to support research and policy analysis, with opportunities to co-author papers and advance toward graduate studies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree completed by July 2027 with a strong quantitative background in econometrics, statistics, math, and/or computer programming.
- A demonstrated interest in economics or finance.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Experience/proficiency with R, Stata, MATLAB, or Python; other programming experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Use analytical and computer programming skills to support academic research and monetary policy work by staff economists.
- Collaborate with multiple staff economists across sections to gain exposure to different areas of economics and methods.
- Contribute to research outputs, including potential co-authored Economic Letters.
- Commit to a two-year term, with potential graduate study alignment.
