Job summary

FHLBank Topeka is offering a paid internship for a student pursuing a finance or accounting degree. The role focuses on monitoring the financial condition of members and counterparties, and strengthening data analytics, reporting, and visualization capabilities.

You will prepare financial analyses, assist with credit reviews, support regulatory processing, and help develop tools in Python and Power BI, with Excel and Cognos familiarity.

Qualifications

• Sophomore year or higher in finance or accounting completed or 12 college hours in those fields.
• One year of related work experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with financial/economic analysis and statistics.
• Advanced computer skills, especially in Excel development, Python scripts, querying methods, data mining/analytics.
• Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed financial analyses and form credit opinions for members.
• Assist with financial analysis for vendors, servicers, and custodians.
• Support regulatory examination processing including ordering, receiving, evaluating, destruction, and follow-up.
• Develop financial data analysis tools and visualizations (Python, Power BI).
• Assist with analytics related to pledging securities collateral.
• Monitor equity prices and CDS spreads for public counterparties.
