Job summary

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) offers a paid college internship in Capital Programs for 2026 at District 03 in Ashland, OH. Interns will support planning, engineering, construction and environmental tasks under supervision and gain real-world experience across sections.

Eligibility requires current college enrollment and good academic standing; a valid driver's license is required; internships are part-time with flexible hours around school schedules.

Qualifications

• MUST BE ENROLLED IN A COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY PROGRAM AND IN GOOD ACADEMIC STANDING.
• Must show proof of valid driver's license to operate state vehicle.
• This position is overtime eligible per FLSA Standards.
• All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

• Assist in traffic engineering studies and review information on highway safety and speed zones.
• Assist in planning activities and data collection for environmental, planning, and permits databases.
• Support survey and field work, data entry, and project reporting.
• Learn PC-based and mainframe CADD systems and highway construction plan preparation.
• Support environmental, safety and project scoping activities under supervision.
