Job summary

The University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City is offering a paid PCA Training Program for Acute Inpatient Units starting January 2027. This 6-month program includes 2 weeks of daytime classroom training to build foundational clinical knowledge and skills essential for patient care.

Participants will receive training in basic nursing skills, documentation, infection prevention, and safety; completion of Gold Standard training within 3 weeks of hire is required.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED or be currently enrolled in a high school/GED program
• Completion of the Gold Standard classroom training within 3 weeks of hire
• Completion of the Knowledge Assessment and Skills & Technique Validation after completion of Gold Standard Program

Responsibilities

• Receives training in basic nursing skills, vital signs, ADLs, documentation in O2.
• Maintains neat, clean patient rooms and work environment.
• Maintains safe patient environment with fall risk interventions and prompt RN notification of changes.
• Trains in hand hygiene, standard precautions, and isolation principles.
• Learns to manage patients in restraints and reorientation of confused patients.
