Job summary

SUNY Westchester Community College’s Criminal Justice Department is offering a paid Security Services Internship at the Valhalla campus. Interns will gain hands-on experience in campus safety operations, supporting roles from Customer Service Representative to Patrol Officer while learning from security professionals.

The program runs 15 weeks with a weekly workflow of 8 hours, and interns may tour county facilities; a background check is required and minimum credits, GPA, and approval criteria

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled at SUNY Westchester with a minimum of 24 credits.
• Current GPA 2.7 or higher.
• Approval of Criminal Justice Curriculum Chair is required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and take direction.
• Ability to maintain professional composure in stressful situations.
• Background check will be conducted.

Responsibilities

• Observing and assisting with patrol operations
• Participating in safety audits and emergency drills
• Learning about dispatch and communication protocols
• Assisting with campus outreach and incident prevention
• Contributing to report writing and incident documentation
