Job summary

The Elevate Teacher Residency in the Bay Area offers a one-year, paid path to a California teaching credential. Residents work at Elevate partner schools four days a week, co‑teaching with an experienced mentor and completing university coursework.

Participants receive coaching, participate in professional learning, classroom experience, and a paycheck while earning credentials and entering the classroom as capable first‑year teachers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree by June 2027.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA (lower GPA considered with exemption letter).
• Subject Matter Competency via CSET or relevant coursework.
• Authorization to work in the U.S.
• TB clearance and fingerprint clearance.

Responsibilities

• Work at Elevate partner school 4 days a week for a full academic year, learning and co‑teaching alongside a mentor teacher.
• Co‑plan and co‑teach lessons that support diverse learning styles.
• Support individual students, small groups, and whole classes to provide differentiated instruction and create a positive learning environment.
• Collaborate with mentor teacher and school staff to assess student progress and implement interventions.
• Engage with families and the community to foster relationships that support student success.
• Lead teach when mentor teacher is out of the classroom for trainings.
• Substitute teach in other classrooms as needed.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and coaching with a cohort of peers.
• Complete university coursework and credential requirements.
