Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking an Arborist Trainee Internship for the Long Island, NY area. This field-based internship runs Spring–Summer 2027 and offers hands-on learning with experienced arborists in a supportive team, with a 40–50 hour work week and hourly pay of $22–$23.

You’ll be mentored in pruning, planting, tree health care, and safety practices while developing practical skills for a career in green industry.

Qualifications

• Enrolled students in arboriculture, urban forestry, natural resources, horticulture, landscape design, forestry or related field.
• Strong interest in tree care and arboriculture.
• Willingness to learn and develop practical field skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn tree care techniques in the field alongside experienced arborists.
• Perform tasks such as pruning, planting, cabling, bracing, and maintenance.
• Operate equipment safely, including chainsaws and chippers, under supervision.
• Gain exposure to plant health care and pest management activities.
• Support daily field operations and contribute to client service.
