Job summary

Excellus BCBS offers a Fall 2026 Internship program as a paid co-op/internship experience for undergraduate and graduate students. Interns work on meaningful projects with mentorship, attend development workshops, and may explore tracks across IT, analytics, data, NLP, ML, and business areas.

Housing is not provided. Responsibilities vary by assignment; interns may scale models, extract clinical data, and deliver presentations while upholding privacy and company values.

Qualifications

• Majors include Data Science, AI Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Preferred skills or experience with NLP, ML, and/or LLM.
• Must be enrolled full-time in a degree program and in good academic standing.
• Excellent communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, and collaborate in teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist with scaling current models to identify and stratify complex chronic conditions and HCCs.
• Extract and leverage clinical data.
• Enhance NLP and ML solutions to boost predictive accuracy and CMS coding compliance.
• Work with a mentor and support strategic projects.
• Deliver a final presentation at internship completion.
• Maintain privacy and adhere to company policies while working on diverse projects.
