Job summary

Spire Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic student or recent graduate to join our internship program in St. Louis, MO. The role offers mentored experience in the finance/accounting function with hands-on project work and exposure to the gas industry.

Qualified candidates are pursuing accounting or finance, can commit to 35–40 hours per week during May–August, and possess strong Excel skills and communication abilities. US GAAP basics and a motivation to learn are preferred.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled college student or graduate student with a major in accounting or finance.
• Availability to work up to 40 hours per week May–August.
• Advanced skills using Microsoft Office (especially Excel).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and complete projects based on departmental needs.
• Learn monthly balance sheet schedules and reconciliations.
• Assist in monthly close activities, journal entries and analysis.
• Support quarterly SEC financial statements, footnotes and earnings materials.
• Prepare ad-hoc reporting for management requests.
• Assist other departments with financial information and status updates.
• Maintain regular attendance and perform administrative duties as needed.
