Job summary

SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital – Lake Saint Louis is seeking a PRN PACU nurse to provide leadership and direction to the patient care team in the post-anesthesia setting.

You will perform age-specific assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and ensure safe, high-quality recovery for surgical patients. The role emphasizes clinical expertise, collaboration with physicians and anesthesia, and adherence to care guidelines.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing.
• BLS certification required (AHA).
• No experience required; PACU exposure preferred.
• Ability to perform age-specific assessments and care planning.

Responsibilities

• Completes PACU admission assessment and develops an individualized plan of care.
• Demonstrates knowledge to meet needs across physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural domains.
• Communicates changes in patient condition to physicians and staff promptly.
• Administers medications and treatments per policy and written protocols.
• Evaluates progress toward outcomes and educates patients and families on discharge needs.
• Maintains effective teamwork and delegates appropriately.
