Job summary

West Penn Hospital, part of Allegheny Health Network under Highmark Health, seeks a Registered Nurse responsible for the post-anesthesia care recovery phase and collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia, and other units to transition patients safely.

The role emphasizes leadership, adherence to safety guidelines, and active participation in interdisciplinary teams. Full-time and part-time positions with a robust benefits package are available.

Qualifications

• Minimum Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• Preferred Certification in area of specialty 1+ year of inpatient bedside RN experience within a cardiac telemetry unit or higher acuity, preferred
• Act 34/33/73 and FBI background clearances and CPR certification required

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership in a professional practice setting and mentors team members.
• Assigns or delegates tasks based on patient needs and staff skill level.
• Maintains safe environment and monitors patient condition and interventions.
• Communicates with physicians, nurses, and other units to coordinate care transitions.
• Documents care and outcomes and supports continuous quality improvement.
• Promotes patient safety and participates in department quality initiatives.
• Assesses patient/family concerns and ensures compassionate communication.
